Ben Folds Five reunite after years of not being Ben Folds Five, announce first album in 13 years
by KID MIDNIGHT     Full Article

A lot can happen in 12 years: my son has grown from a cute, smiley baby into an annoying and loud pre-teen, my cat went from a fuzzy little kitty into a farty, mean, slashy set of claws, and America went from being on top of the world to being on the brink of bankruptcy. Also in 12 years, a band, such as Ben Folds Five, can move past their differences, realize that they were never as popular alone as they were together, and decide to de-break-up and reunite.

In fact, that’s exactly what Ben Folds Five have decided to do; after 12 years, a handful of “no, we’re not actually back together we’re just playing a show together” gigs, and three new songs recorded for a best-of album, BFF have decided to finally get back together and once again be BFF and BFFs.

The band will not only head out on a tour (with dates in North America, the UK, Ireland, and Australia) but they will also be releasing their first new album in 13 years. The Sound of the Life of the Mind will be available for consumption on September 18 through ImaVeePee Records and Sony Music Entertainment. The album, the band’s first since The Unauthorized Biography of Reinhold Messner, was created through the use of the PledgeMusic, a “grassroots, direct-to-fans initiative where artists and fans work together with charities to create albums and other projects.” Like Kickstarter, but with charities, and Ben Folds Five.
